Roof moulding and roof railing

6.1 Assembly overview - roof railing

• 1 Left roof railing
• 2 Right roof railing
• 3 Hexagon nut
  • Qty. 2 each on left and right at front
  • Specified torque: 9 Nm
• 4 Hexagon nut
  • Qty. 2 each on left and right at rear
  • Specified torque: 9 Nm

6.2 Removing and installing roof railing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1331-

Removing

• Remove moulded headliner ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Roof trim; Removing and installing moulded headliner.
• Undo and remove the front nuts -3- and rear nuts -4- from the studs of the roof railing.
• Remove roof railing together with studs upwards from the roof.

Installing

• Position roof railing evenly on roof. Start with front stud.
• Tighten nuts -3 and 4-, specified torque ⇒ 6.1 Assembly overview - roof railing.
• Install moulded headliner ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Roof trim; Removing and installing moulded headliner.
