Removing and installing rear wheel housing liner

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

  • Remove wheel ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 44; Wheels, tyres; Specified torque for wheel bolts.
  • Unscrew bolts -2-.
  • Pull rear wheel housing liner -1- out of wheel housing.

Installing

The spreader nuts seal the interior against exhaust gases and have to be renewed without fail in the event of damage.

  • Insert rear wheel housing liner -1- in wheel housing without kinking the liner.
  • Fit bolts -2- in place and tighten them.
  • Install wheel ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 44; Wheels, tyres; Specified torque for wheel bolts.
