Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Wedge - T10383-
- Hand-cartridge gun - V.A.G 1628-
Materials
1) Observe instructions for use on the information sheet provided by the manufacturer.
2) Observe minimum curing period ⇒ 10.1.5 Minimum curing period for bonded addon parts.
3) Heat according to manufacturer's instructions, using cartridge heater - V.A.G 1939-.
4) Small cartridge, 180 ml, for sealing and/or when a 400 ml double cartridge alone is not sufficient.
5) The part numbers of the materials can be found in ⇒ ETKA.
Removing
- Release middle piece of roof spoiler at marked points using wedge - T10383-.
- Lift middle piece of roof spoiler and release from fasteners located on underside.
- Remove middle piece of roof spoiler.
- Dimension a = 240 mm
- Dimension b = 170 mm
Installing
- Apply 1-pack window adhesive -2- on adapter.
- Position middle piece of roof spoiler -1- on rear lid and lock it into both side pieces of roof spoiler -2- -arrow A-.
- Centralize middle piece of roof spoiler.
- Pull protective foil off double-sided adhesive tape.
- Press on roof spoiler -arrow B-.
2.2.2 Removing and installing spoiler, Polo »GTI«
Removing
- Pull cover -1- with clips -2- out of roof spoiler -arrow a-.
- Unscrew bolts -4-.
- Pull roof spoiler -1- off rear lid -3-.
Installing
The pop rivet nuts -6- must be installed.
- Clean area of bonding surface -7-.
- Fit roof spoiler -1- on rear lid.
- Screw in bolts -5-, but do not tighten them.
- Using removal aid -3-, pull protective film off adhesive tape -4-.
- Press on roof spoiler forcefully in area of adhesive tape -7-.
- Tighten bolts -5-.
- Push cover -1- with clips -2- into roof spoiler -arrow a-.

Materials

Removing
- Thread cutting cord -3- in at one corner between rear lid and roof spoiler -1-.
- Cut through adhesive sealants on one side of roof spoiler using a “sawing” motion with both pull handles - V.A.G 1351/1- -2-.
- Also cut through sealant materials on other side.
- Release roof spoiler at marked points using wedge - T10383-.
- Lift roof spoiler and release from fasteners located on underside.
- Remove roof spoiler.
- Dimension a = 110 mm
- Dimension b = 215 mm
Installing
- Repair instructions ⇒ 10.1 Repair instructions
- Using hand cartridge gun - V.A.G 1628- -5-, apply adhesive bead -4- and adhesive spots -2- on left and right sides of roof spoiler -1-.
- Pull protective film off double-sided adhesive tape -3-.
- With the help of a second mechanic, fit roof spoiler -1- in direction of -arrow- on rear lid -2- and press on firmly.
