Removing and installing operating mechanism

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

• Remove rear lid trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Luggage compartment trims; Removing and installing lower rear lid trim.
• Disconnect connector -5- from lock release element -1-.
• Unscrew bolts -4-.

• Turn release element -1- in direction of -arrow b- until hook -2- behind profile -3- projects out.
• Release element -1- can then be removed from rear lid -2- -arrow b-.

Installing

• Insert release element -1- into rear lid -6- -arrow a-.
• Turn release element in direction of -arrow b- until hook -2- grips behind profile -3-.
• Tighten bolts firmly. Specified torque of bolts -4-: 4 Nm.
• Connect connector -5-.

• Before closing rear lid, check function of lid release components.
