Removing and installing hinges

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque wrench - V.A.G 1331-

Removing

  • Remove roof end strip ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Roof trims; Removing and installing roof end strip.
  • Removing rear lid -5- ⇒ 2.4 Removing and installing rear lid.
  • Unscrew hexagon nuts -4-, and detach hinge -1- and washer -3-.

Installing

Hinge -1- installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.

  • Specified torque for nuts -4-: 24 Nm.
  • Make sure hinge rests tightly against the body.
  • Install rear lid ⇒ 2.4 Removing and installing rear lid.
  • Install roof end strip ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Roof trims; Removing and installing roof end strip.
