Removing and installing window regulator

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

• Remove door trim panel ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Rear door trim panels; Removing and installing rear door trim panel.
• Remove door window ⇒ 5.4 Removing and installing rear door window.
• Remove window regulator motor ⇒ 2.4 Removing and installing window regulator motor or manual drive mechanism ⇒ 2.6 Removing and installing window crank mechanism.
• Undo and remove hexagon nuts -2-.
• Release cable drum's -3- locking hooks -4- and push into door -arrows a-.
• Swing window regulator -1- into door.
• Guide window regulator to aperture in door -arrow b- and remove -arrow c-.

Installing

• Guide window regulator -1- through aperture in door -arrow a-.
• Guide window regulator to its mounting position -arrow b-.
• Insert thread of window regulator through door and tighten hexagon nuts -2-; specified torque: 8 Nm.
• Press cable drum through holes in door -arrows c- until locking hooks latch on.
