Removing and installing window regulator motor

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

• Remove door trim panel ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Rear door trim panels; Removing and installing rear door trim panel.
• Tape up door window to prevent it from sliding down.
• Unscrew 3 bolts -2-.
• Disconnect connector -4-.
• Remove window regulator motor with control unit -1- from mounting brackets of cable drum -3-.

Installing

• Fit window regulator motor -1- onto mounting brackets of cable drum -3-. When doing so, move door window up and down slightly so that the splines between motor and cable drum engage more easily.
• Secure electrical connectors -4-.

Specified torque for bolts -2-: 3 Nm

• Allow window regulators to move up to stop once automatically. Then pull switch again for 2 seconds. This programs the upper stop for the window regulator motor.
• Then perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
