Removing and installing window regulator

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

• Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front door trim.
• Remove door window ⇒ 5.3 Removing and installing front door window.
• Remove window regulator motor ⇒ 2.4 Removing and installing window regulator motor.
• Remove hexagon nuts -3-.
• Release locking hooks of cable drum -arrows d- and push it into door.
• Push window regulator -1- into door and turn it slightly in direction of -arrow a-.
• Guide window regulator to aperture in door -arrow b- and remove -arrow c-.

Installing

• Guide window regulator -2- through aperture in door -arrow a-.
• Guide window regulator to its mounting position -arrow b-.

• Insert thread of window regulator through door -arrow c- and tighten hexagon nuts -4-; specified torque: 8 Nm.
• Press cable drum -1- through holes in door until locking hooks -arrow d- engage.
