Removing and installing front door window

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1331-
• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-
• Roller - T 10314-
• Removal wedge - 3409-

Removing

• Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front door trim.
• Lever out cover cap -5-.
• Lift out cover -4-.
• Lower door window -1- until clamping bolts -3- for door window are accessible.
• Loosen bolts -3- (do not remove) and press clamping brackets -2- apart.

• Lift rear of door window -1- and swing out of window channels -2- forwards -in direction of arrow-.

Installing

• Insert door window glass -1- into window channels -2- in direction of -arrow a-. Ensure that door window glass is properly located in window channel.
• Guide door window glass -arrow b- into clamping jaws -3- without using force.
• Align door window with window frame -arrow c-.

• Tighten bolts -3-, (qty. 2), specified torque: 8 Nm.
• Then perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.

• Carry out functional test before fitting door trim.
