Removing and installing window regulator motor

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

  • Remove front door trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr. 70; Front door trims; Removing and installing front door trim.
  • Tape up door window to prevent it from sliding down.
  • Disconnect connector -4-.
  • Unscrew 3 bolts -2-.
  • Remove window regulator motor with control unit -1- from mounting brackets -3-.

Installing

  • Insert window regulator motor -1- into mounting brackets -3-. Move door window up and down slightly so that the splines between motor and cable drum engage more easily.

Specified torque for bolts -2-: 3 Nm

  • Attach electrical connector -4-.
  • Allow window regulators to move up to stop once automatically. Then pull switch again for 2 seconds. This programs the upper stop for the window regulator motor.
  • Then perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
