Special tools and workshop equipment required

- Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing
- Remove headlight ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.
- Unscrew bolts -2-.
- Remove bolts -3- (pointing upwards) on left and right of wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- from wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- and -5- from below.

Further removal requires the help of a second mechanic.
- Pull front bumper cover -1- out of fasteners of guides on left and right of wing -arrows c-.
- Release fasteners on guides -arrows b- and radiator grille -arrows a-.
- Release fasteners -3- from lock carrier -4-, located behind radiator grille.
- With the aid of a second mechanic, pull off front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows d- from vehicle.
- Remove connectors of all installed electrical components.

- Detach washer fluid line hose couplings (if fitted) ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 92; Headlight washer system; Assembly overview – headlight washer system.

Installing
- Notes on washer fluid hose connectors can be found in ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 92; Headlight washer system.
- Guide front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows a- onto lock carrier.
- Press radiator grille and bumper cover into fasteners -arrows c and d-.
- Push front bumper cover -1- onto guides -2- -arrows b-.

- Ensure that gaps and shut lines are parallel and specified dimensions are maintained ⇒ Body Repairs; Rep. gr. 00; Body panel gaps/shut lines; Body - front.
- Fit bolts -2, 4, 5- and -6- in place and tighten them to the respective specified torque ⇒ 1.1.1 Assembly overview – bumper cover, Polo, »standard« equipment version.
1.4.2 Removing and installing bumper cover, Polo BlueMotion
Special tools and workshop equipment required

Removing
- Remove headlights ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.
- Unscrew bolts -2-.
- Remove bolts -3- (pointing upwards) on left and right of wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- from wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- and -5- from below.

- Pull front bumper cover -1- out of fasteners of guides on left and right of wing -arrows c-.
- Release fasteners on guides -arrows b- and radiator grille -arrows a-.
- Release fasteners -3- from lock carrier -4-, located behind radiator grille.
- With the aid of a second mechanic, pull front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows d- off vehicle.
- Disconnect connectors from all existing electrical components.
- Detach washer fluid line hose couplings (if fitted) ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 92; Headlight washer system; Assembly overview – headlight washer system.

Installing
- Guide front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows a- onto lock carrier.
- Press radiator grille and bumper cover into fasteners -3- and -arrows c-.
- Push front bumper cover -1- onto guides -2- until both engage -arrows b- with one another.

- Fit bolts -2, 3, 4- and -5- in place, and tighten them to respective specified torque ⇒ 1.1.2 Assembly overview – bumper cover, Polo BlueMotion.
1.4.3 Removing and installing bumper cover, CrossPolo
Special tools and workshop equipment required

- Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing
- Remove headlight ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.
- Unscrew bolts -2-.
- Remove bolts -3- (pointing upwards) on left and right of wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- from wheel housing.
- Unscrew bolts -4- and -5- from below.

Further removal requires the help of a second mechanic.
- Pull front bumper cover -1- out of fasteners of guides on left and right of wing -arrows c-.
- Release fasteners on guides -arrows b- and radiator grille -arrows a-.
- Release fasteners -3- from lock carrier -4-, located behind radiator grille.
- With the aid of a second mechanic, pull off front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows d- from vehicle.
- Remove connectors of all installed electrical components.

Removing
- Remove headlight ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.
- Unscrew bolts -2-.
- Remove bolts -3- (pointing upwards) on left and right of wheel housing.
- Remove bolts -4- to secure wheel housing liner.
- Undo bolts -5- from below.

Further removal requires the help of a second mechanic.
- Pull front bumper cover -1- out of fasteners of guides on left and right of wing -arrows c-.
- Release fasteners on guides -arrows b- and radiator grille -arrows a-.
- Release fasteners -3- from lock carrier -4-, located behind radiator grille.
- With the aid of a second mechanic, pull off front bumper cover -1- parallel -arrows d- from vehicle.
- Remove connectors of all installed electrical components.

1.4.5 Removing and installing bumper cover, Polo »R-Line«

Removing
- Remove headlight ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.
- Unscrew bolts -2-.
- Remove bolts -4- (pointing upwards) on left and right of wheel housing.
- Remove bolts -5- to secure wheel housing liner.
- Unscrew bolts -6- from underneath.
Further removal requires the help of a second mechanic.
- Pull front bumper cover -1- out of fasteners of guides on left and right of wing.
- Release catches on lateral guides -3- and on radiator grille.
- Release catches behind radiator grille.
- With help of a second mechanic pull front bumper cover -1- parallel off vehicle.
- Remove connectors of all installed electrical components.

Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Guide front bumper cover -1- parallel onto lock carrier.
- Press radiator grille and bumper cover into fasteners.
- Push front bumper cover -1- onto guides -3-.
- Ensure that gaps and shut lines are parallel and specified dimensions are maintained ⇒ Body Repairs; Rep. gr. 00; Body panel gaps/shut lines; Body - front.
- Start bolts, then tighten them to respective specified torque.
