Removing and installing oil filter bracket with engine oil cooler

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Release lever - 80 - 200-

• Used oil collection and extraction unit - V.A.G 1782-

• Drip tray for workshop hoist - VAS 6208-

• Spring-type clip pliers - VAS 6362-

»Carry out the following work sequence«

Removing

• Remove engine cover panel ⇒ 3 Engine cover panel.
• Remove cowling ⇒ 3.2 Assembly overview - with radiator fan - V7-.
• Drain coolant ⇒ 19 – Cooling.
• Remove 4/2-way valve ⇒ 2.1 Assembly overview - coolant pump and 4/2-way valve with thermostat

• Remove oil filter element.
• Remove charge air pipe »cold« side ⇒ 2.3.2 Removing and installing charge air pipe »hot« side.

• Unscrew bolts of oil dipstick connections -arrows-.
• Remove oil dipstick upwards.

• Remove coolant hoses. To do this, loosen hose clips -1-.
• Place used oil collection and extraction unit - V.A.G 1782- under engine.

• Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove oil filter bracket with engine oil cooler.

Installing

• Specified torques ⇒ 3 Oil filter, oil pressure switch.

Install in reverse order, noting the following:

• Install oil filter element, replenish engine oil and check oil level ⇒ 1.3 Removing and installing sump.
• Replenish coolant in cooling system, change coolant if engine oil cooler has been renewed ⇒ 1.3.1 Draining.
