Renewing crankshaft oil seal - belt pulley end

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Seal puller - 3240-
  • Assembly tool - T10022-
  • Press tool - T10022/1-
  • Spindle - T10022/2-

Removing

  • First remove main drive toothed belt ⇒ 1.3 Removing, installing and tensioning toothed belt.
  • Now remove crankshaft toothed belt pulley.
  • To guide oil seal extractor - 3240-, screw crankshaft toothed belt pulley securing bolt into crankshaft to stop.
  • Screw inner part of oil seal extractor - 3240- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer part and lock using knurled screw.
  • Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor - 3240-, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into the oil seal as far as possible.
  • Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.

Installing

  • Lightly oil sealing lip of new oil seal.
  • Fit assembly tool - T10022- onto crankshaft journal and turn spindle -T10022/2- in to stop.
  • Slide oil seal over assembly tool.
