Reading and deleting engine control unit event memory

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Vehicle diagnostic tester

Procedure

• Connect vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Start engine and run at idling speed.

Only when engine does not start:

• Switch on ignition.

Select operating mode:

• Press button on display for “Vehicle self-diagnosis”.

Select vehicle system:

• Press button “01 - Engine electronics” on display.

Engine control unit coding and identification are displayed.

Selecting diagnostic function:

• Press “02 - Read event memory” button on the display.
• If no fault is stored in the engine control unit “0 faults detected” is displayed.
• If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they are shown one below the other on the display.
• Press ← button.
• Press “05 - Clear event memory” button on the display.
• Press “06 - End output” function.
