Mounting roof reinforcement on body

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Electric cutter - V.A.G 1561A-

• Scraper (45 mm) - V.A.G 1561/20-

• Cartridge gun - V.A.G 1628-

Removing

• Remove moulded headliner:

• 4-door models ⇒ 7.2.2 Removing and installing moulded headliner, 4-door models
• 2-door models ⇒ 7.2.1 Removing and installing moulded headliner, 2-door models

• Cut insulation and roof reinforcements -1- and -2- into approx. 9 cm wide strips -3- -dot-dash lines- using a carpet knife.
• Pull strips -3- from roof.
• Cut back adhesive residue -4- using an electric cutter - V.A.G 1561 A- and cutting blade - V.A.G 1561/20- -5-.

Installing

• Use hand cartridge gun - V.A.G 1628- to apply adhesive D 190 MKD A3 onto front -1- and rear -2- insulation and roof reinforcement.
• Apply adhesive in beads.
• Press insulation and roof reinforcements fully onto roof.
