Removing and installing airbag control unit - J234-

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Torque wrench - V.A.G 1783-

Removing

• Remove centre console:

• Without arm rest ⇒ 3.5.1 Removing and installing centre console, centre console without armrest.
• With arm rest ⇒ 3.5.2 Removing and installing centre console, centre console with armrest.

• Switch ignition on.
• Disconnect vehicle battery ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27; Battery; Disconnecting and reconnecting battery.

• From front passenger side footwell, release connector locking mechanism -1-.
• Separate connector from control unit.

• Unscrew 3 nuts -1- (9 Nm).

• Remove control unit from vehicle.

Installing

• Install in reverse order of removal.
• Switch ignition on.

• 6R 2009–2014 If control unit was renewed, it must be coded. Adapting components (coding) ⇒ 4.15 Adapting components.
• Connect vehicle battery ⇒ Electrical system; Rep. gr. 27; Battery; Disconnecting and reconnecting battery.
