Checking vacuum unit for turbocharger

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Hand operated vacuum pump - VAS 6213-

• Check retaining clip -1- is seated correctly on vacuum unit linkage.

Securing nut -2- must be locked with sealing paint.

• Pull hose -arrow- off vacuum unit.

• Fit hose -2- onto vacuum unit connection.
• Push sliding ring -1- on hand vacuum pump - VAS 6213- to stop in direction of -arrow-.

• Operate hand vacuum pump - VAS 6213- until a pressure of 700 mbar is displayed on pressure gauge.

Linkage of vacuum unit -1- must move in direction of -arrow-.

If pressure of 700 mbar is displayed:

Vacuum unit is OK.

If pressure drops abruptly:

• Renew vacuum unit ⇒ 1.2 Removing and installing turbocharger.
