Removing and installing fuel delivery unit

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Union nut tool - 3217-

• Torque wrench (40 to 200 Nm) - V.A.G 1332-

1.4.1 Removing

• Note safety precautions before beginning work ⇒ 1.2 Safety regulations for working on fuel supply.

• Observe rules for cleanliness ⇒ 1.3 Rules for cleanliness.
• First check whether a coded radio is fitted. If so, obtain antitheft code.
• With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
• Fold rear bench seat forwards.
• Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.

• Pull connector -1- and supply and return lines -2- and -3- off flange.

• Unscrew union nut with union nut tool - 3217-.
• Pull fuel delivery unit and seal out of the opening in fuel tank.

1.4.2 Installing

• Installing the fuel delivery unit is carried out in reverse order of removal.
