The balancer shaft module helps reduce engine vibrations. By counter-rotating certain internal engine components, it creates a balancing effect that smoothens the engine operation. On the other hand, the oil pump is a critical component of the engine lubrication system. It ensures a constant flow of pressurized oil to lubricate all moving parts and prevent excessive wear.

Often, this assembly is removed and replaced with a conventional oil pump from older generation 1.8T engines (requires the replacement of the oil filter housing from 06A to 06F).
