High-pressure pump – assembly overview and fastening

Before opening the high-pressure section, e.g. to remove the high-pressure pump, fuel rail, injectors, the fuel lines, or the fuel pressure sender - G247-, the fuel pressure in the highpressure area must be reduced to a residual pressure of approx. 6 bar. The appropriate procedure is described in the chapter on releasing pressure in the high-pressure section ⇒ 2.3 Releasing pressure in high-pressure area.

• 1 Roller tappet
  • Lightly coat with engine oil when installing.
• 2 O-ring
  • Renew
  • Lightly coat with engine oil when installing.
• 3 High-pressure pump with fuel pressure regulating valve - N276-

When the high-pressure piston spring package loosens the high-pressure pump will leak and must be replaced.

• 4 20 Nm
  • Tighten bolts evenly.
• 5 Union
  • High pressure
• 6 Union nut, 18 Nm
  • Observe safety precautions ⇒ 2 Safety precautions.
  • Counterhold when loosening connection to high-pressure pump.

• 7 Fuel hose
  • Low pressure
  • With spring-type clip.
• 8 Union
