Air filter

1.1 Assembly overview - air filter

4 Spring-type clip
- Remove and install using spring-type clip pliers - VAS 5024A-.
5 Intake hose
6 Cover
7 Intake air guide
8 Air filter lower part
- With captive securing bolt.
- Specified torque: 8 Nm
- With intake connection.
9 Water drain hose
- When installing, arrows on lower part of air filter and water drainage hose must align.
10 O-ring
- Renew
11 Filter element

1 Spring-type clip
- Remove and install with hose clip pliers - VAS 6340-.
2 Intake hose
3 Air filter upper part
4 1.6 Nm
- Tighten with torque screwdriver - VAS 6494-.
5 Seal
- Renew if damaged
6 Filter element
7 O-ring
- Renew if damaged
8 Air filter lower part
- Removing and installing ⇒ 1.4 Removing and installing air filter housing (Polo)
9 8 Nm
10 Bush
11 Rubber mounting
12 Rubber mounting
13 Water drain hose
14 O-ring
- Renew if damaged
15 Intake air duct, 3 Nm
16 Intake connecting pipe
17 Vacuum hose
- Renew if damaged
- To cylinder head cover.
18 Non-return valve

Removing

Eos and Golf Plus

Continued for all vehicles

Press fastener -arrows- and pull intake air duct upwards.
Release spring-type clip -1- and pull intake hose and vacuum hose off air filter.

Loosen securing bolt -2- and pull air filter housing upwards from locating pins -arrows-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. During this procedure, observe the following:

Tighten new securing bolt -2- to 8 Nm and slide spring-type clip -1- with intake hose onto air filter connection.

Lift engine cover panel at points -1- and pull it forwards in direction of -arrow-.
Pull hose -1- off at camshaft housing.
