Removing and installing coolant pump

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Refractometer - T10007 A-
• Hose clamp pliers - VAS 6340-
• Torque wrench (5 … 50 Nm) - V.A.G 1331-

Removing

• Drain coolant ⇒ 1.6 Draining and adding coolant.
• First remove main drive toothed belt ⇒ 1.3 Removing, installing and tensioning toothed belt.

• Remove idler roller -6- by removing idler roller securing bolt -5-.

• Remove bolts -1- and -4- and rear toothed belt guard -2- and coolant pump -3-.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• Insert coolant pump -3- in cylinder block and install securing bolt -4- together with rear toothed belt guard.
• Tighten securing bolts -4- to 20 Nm and -1- to 10 Nm.
• Install idler roller -6- and tighten securing bolt -5- to 50 Nm.

• Install and tension toothed belt ⇒ 1.3 Removing, installing and tensioning toothed belt.
• Install poly V-belt ⇒ 1.4 Removing and installing poly-V belt.
• Add coolant ⇒ 1.6 Draining and adding coolant.
