Removing and installing coolant pump

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Refractometer - T10007-
• Drip tray - V.A.G 1306-
• Torque wrench (5 … 50 Nm) - V.A.G 1331-
• Pliers for spring-type clips - VAS 6362-

»Carry out the following work sequence«

Removing

• Drain coolant ⇒ 19 – Cooling.
• Remove poly V-belt ⇒ 13 – Crankshaft group.
• Remove toothed belt ⇒ 2.1.1 Removing and installing engine bracket.

• Unscrew securing bolts -1- of coolant pump -2- and carefully remove coolant pump.

Installing

Specified torques ⇒ 1.4.2 Parts of cooling system - engine side

Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:

• Coat new O-ring -3- with coolant.
• Insert coolant pump -2- into cylinder block and tighten securing bolts -1-.

• Install toothed belt ⇒ 2.1.1 Removing and installing engine bracket.
• Install poly V-belt ⇒ 13 – Crankshaft group.
• Add coolant ⇒ 1.3.1 Draining.
